What DVA Provider Registration Involves
Becoming a registered DVA provider lets your business deliver and claim for services to Australian veterans, war widows and widowers, and eligible dependants under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Getting it right the first time protects your ability to claim from day one, and getting the sequence wrong is the most common reason practices lose weeks of billable work.
DVA registration is not a single online form for everyone. For most health disciplines, registration is triggered automatically once Services Australia issues your Medicare provider number. For a specific group of provider types, you must register with DVA directly before you can treat or claim. Working out which pathway applies to you and preparing the right documentation for it is where our DVA registration support begins.
We confirm your pathway, prepare and check every document, and make sure your setup is compliant before your first claim, so nothing bounces later.
DVA Provider Requirements
Before you can operate as a DVA provider, there are a few core requirements to have in place. We help you meet each one:
- A current Medicare provider number from Services Australia, issued for each practice location you work from.
- An active ABN, and correct GST status recorded with DVA where applicable.
- Professional registration or membership appropriate to your discipline, and professional indemnity insurance.
- A PRODA (Provider Digital Access) account so you can lodge claims through Services Australia.
- Agreement to DVA’s Notes for Providers and Fee Schedule for your service type, including the no-gap billing rule.
Requirements vary by discipline, and missing or mismatched details are a leading cause of registration and payment delays. We review your specific situation against DVA’s current requirements so you know exactly what applies to you.
